Purpose


Vibration type fiber optic detection equipment DON FS is designed for protection of perimeters equipped with wire mesh or panel fencing, including outrigger fencing.

DON FS is widely used for perimeters of important and critical facilities, providing security for small areas of few meters, as well as for perimeters dozens of kilometers long.

DON FS – ideal solution for perimeter protection of facilities

Structure and operating principle


DON FS operating principle is based on changes in the parameters of laser beams passing through sensing element, that occur during attempts to crawl over or destruct the fence.

The light beam is formed by a laser located in the processor unit that can be placed up to 20 km from the nearest edge of protected section.After that the laser beam is directed through a connection cable to a fiber optic splitter installed in a combination coupler, which distributes it across lines of the main cable, each of which is responsible for its own perimeter section.

After reaching the end of the sensing cable, laser beams are reflected from the terminating device installed there and are returned back to the processing unit.

Cables of sensing elements of adjacent zones are led into a zone coupler, where they are connected to corresponding cores of the main cable.

The processor unit reads the light beam parameters, saving the reference interference pattern (rest mode). Vibration of the fence causes small bends in the sensing element that change the interference pattern parameters. Depending on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of these changes, the processor unit generates an alarm signal at the corresponding perimeter section.

The fiber optic sensitive element is installed in two lines on the fence fabric, completely covering the detection zone. The sensing cable is installed in additional loops to increase sensitivity in high stiffness areas (e.g. on fence poles).

The processor unit is composed of two processors, each of them is setup for registration of a certain perimeter penetration method. One of the processors handles low-frequency vibrations that occur when someone climbs over a fence (including with a ladder), and the second one – high-frequency vibrations that occur when a fence element is cut.
